I’ve been asked to discuss the topic of buying a cheap Smartphone. I´ll be, of course, speaking from a layman’s point of view, as I am not, nor do I intend to pass of myself as an expert on the matter. One aspect of buying a cheap Smartphone that immediately comes to mind is saving money. And it certainly is a highly controversial one. In this essay, I will analyse the pros and cons of buying a cheap Smartphone. When dealing with Smartphones, we cannot overlook that Networks have improved a lot in recent years. Who would have though 30 years ago that today everybody would have one? It is common knowledge that nowadays you can choose among a wide variety of mobile phones. Given that, it is of paramount importance to make the right choice. Many argue that buying a cheap Smartphone is the wisest choice as it allows you to save money and there is no denying that cheap Smartphones have excellent software and thousands of apps. But if we look closer, we will realize that some cheap Smartphones become sluggish after installing many apps. We shouldn’t forget either that their battery life is shorter than other Smartphones of better quality and this can be a great source of problems. So cheap Smartphones aren’t actually all it is cracked to be. If I were to choose one, I’d probably go for more expensive Smartphones, and there are several reasons why: Firstly, more expensive Smartphones provide you with better software support and they don’t become sluggish even after installing lots of apps. Another major advantage is that they have a higher resolution display. Take for instance the camera quality. Many studies have revealed that people prefer more expensive Smartphones such us IPhones as they offer you a far wider range of possibilities. There is also the cliché that expensive Smartphones are great because they give you exclusivity, overcoat for brand conscious people. And those are the factors that determine success or failure. As a final remark, I would like to say that although buying cheap Smartphones may be a good option as they have excellent software and thousands of apps, there are factors like slowness or quality that should also be taken into account in order to make the best choice. According to the latest research, 80% of the population value exclusivity or the resolution display over the software or the app, which is way it might be wiser to choose more expensive Smartphones.

Opposite idea (NO, it's BAD) Sustainable tourism YES NO ( NO WINS) R1+economic upturn R1-Environmental problems R2+modernization R2-Overcrowding R3- Loss of culture R4- Rushed lives INTRO When we consider the topic of mass tourism in Mount Everest, the first thing that comes to mind is economic upturn and modernization. But is it really the best option when it comes to improving local’s lives? This essay will look into the advantages and disadvantages of mass tourism in Mount Everest. IT'S TRUE THAT... Many argue that mass tourism is the wisest choice as it allows you to improve economic conditions and there is no denying that mass tourism is also a reasonable course of action for those who wish to modernize the place. BUT... Yet, there are factors like pollution or overcrowding that should also be taken into account in order to make the best choice. There is much more to life than just economic upturn or modernization. According to the latest research, 75% of the population value the amount of environmental problems over the economic advantages. Also, if you consider the fact that overcrowding plays a crucial role in damaging the nature of the place, then mass tourism does not seem to be such a great idea after all. BESIDES... Moreover, sustainable tourism has two additional major advantages, namely cultural loss and rushed lives of the locals. If preserving the traditional link locals have with their past ranks high on your priority list, then mass tourism should definitely be out of the question. And last, but certainly not least, you must consider whether depriving the locals of their quiet life is an issue for you. If so, then sustainable tourism is likely to be a much better option for you. SO “NO” WINS To sum up, although on the face of it mass tourism sounds like a good idea when it comes to improving Sherpa’s life, a more in-depth analysis suggests otherwise. In fact, most evidence points to the fact that if environmental problems, overcrowding, cultural loss and rushed lives of the locals is what you are after, then sustainable tourism will probably work best for you. A B A= Spread Spanish stereotypes B= Deny uncertain rumours R+1 : Tourism R1+: Finish practical jokes R+2 : Economy R2+ : Maintain cultural awareness R1- Create social problems R2- Loss of ownership to a group INTRO Over the last few years there has been much controversy as to whether it is better to spread Spanish stereotypes around the world or to deny them. Many argue that getting ride of Spanish stereotypes is by far the best option, while others claim that highlighting them has more pros than cons. In this essay, I will analyze the pros and cons in order to come to a conclusion. IT IS TRUE THAT B... Undoubtedly, overcome those uncertain rumours can be a great way to stop stereotypical monologues and to maintain a real cultural awareness. It's a well known fact that denying Spanish stereotypes offers you the possibility of finishing practical jokes, such us being called the country that never sleeps. There is also the cliché that breaking down stereotypes is great because it saves Spanish culture, that of being more than only siesta, paella and party. BUT B IS BAD... However, when analysing the option of denying stereotypes in more detail, can also be a great source of problems. If we look closer, we will realize that this isn't actually all it is cracked up to be. For one thing, it may cause social problems of ethnocentrism. We shouldn't forget either that denying Spanish stereotypes could very easily lead to a loss of ownership to a group, since stereotypes provides people with a general idea of the country and their inhabitants. AND A IS GOOD Spread Spanish stereotypes offer you a far wider range of possibilities when it comes to improve tourism or economy. Take for instance, the amount of tourists that come to our country motivated by the stereotypes of the Spanish cuisine or weather. Experience shows that the tourism sector has grown a lot in recent years and it has become one of our main source of income. Another major advantage is that if you should need to improve the economy, tourists spend plenty of money when visiting our country, so all your needs would be met. SO A WINS!! To sum up, even though denying Spanish stereotypes has some advantages like finishing practical jokes or maintaining cultural awareness, it can also cause social problems and a leak of ownership to a group. Besides, the fact that spread Spanish stereotypes allows you to improve tourism and thus economy (as shown in the latest survey results), makes it quite clear that having a positive attitude towards stereotypes constitutes the best option by far. |
